    Norse Thor Snowboard
Our flagship board for Norse is the Thor model, in honor of the Norse god of thunder. Feel the might of Thor and his powerful hammer Mjolnir when you have this board under your feet. Extremely limited quantities this season so pick yours up soon before it sells out!

The Norse Thor model has a profile with a flat shape between the bindings, and reverse camber/rocker extending past the bindings to the nose and tail. A flat camber between the bindings gives you excellent edge control, but still makes this a super fun all mountain freestyle board. The reverse camber at the tips gives this board an amazing freestyle feel, allows advanced riders to jib, butter, and nail all kinds of moves with a large amount of forgiveness, but makes it an amazingly easy board for beginners to learn how to snowboard.

A twin shape and symmetric flex patterns make this board ideal for a centered stance and riding switch, regular, goofy, or whatever your preference! The super strong core of the Thor model is made of Aspen and Maple woods, making this much more durable than a traditional poplar core.

Just like the Longships in the Viking era floated in the sea, our Thor model with its reverse camber shape floats with fury in deep powder. When our Norse god Ullr and goddess Skadi dump their magical powder on us you will have a snowboard that can shred through the best of conditions.

Thor, often also referred to as Donar in varying Germanic dialects was the most revered Norse god in Northern Europe as documented from the Roman historian Tacitus, all the way to the end of the Viking era. The pre-history origins of Thor are unclear, but it is likely he was revered for several thousand years before the conversion of Christianity in Northern Europe. Thor appealed to the common man as he was the defender of the land, the people, and the Aesir. Legends of lightning strikes and deafening thunder in storms are said to be Thor doing battle with his enemies. Thursday, is named after our god of thunder, also known as Thor'sday. Just like Thor was a god that appealed to virtually all of the Northman, our Thor snowboard model is an excellent choice for any snowboarder looking for a quality deck.

Sintered Durasruf 2001 base material was used in our Thor model. Sintered bases absorb wax very well and are much faster than an Extruded base. Our base graphics were silk-screened due to the super ornate and traditional Norse knotwork design.

Our Thor snowboard is made of a full tip-to-tail Aspen and Maple wood core. Many companies stop the wood core before the tips and fill the void with plastic or P-Tex to save costs, but this results in weak spots and is a very common location where boards break.

Berserker strength Sintered P-Tex sidewalls are used in our sidewalls.

The Thor Snowboard comes with a full metal edge, all the way around each tip. Many companies don't extend the metal edges all the way around the tips. We believe in supplying you with the best product, with full metal edges adding extra durability and a more consistent feel.

Norse snowboards are held together using a highly toughened epoxy system. De-lamination sucks, and companies that cut corners on epoxy will de-laminate only after a few rides. The epoxy used makes de-lamination extremely rare. Our boards are also laid up using a full perimiter rubber damping foil around the edges. This increases the bond between all the layers and adds stability by absorbing vibration and chatter.

    About the art:
Selecting an artist to create the first snowboard graphic for a Norse Snowboard was quite a challenge. Ancient Norse and Germanic art has nearly been forgotten in the span of the last couple thousand years. We were able to find an artist that specializes specifically in the ancient traditional art of Northern Europe. Our goal at Norse is to revitalize an ancient spirit in ourselves, and one of the most beautiful parts of that spirit is the cultural significance of the art.

Our artist works with us internationally from Sweden, Freki Wodenswolf Jungnickel. Having an expert in Norse art centered in the heart of the Scandinavian homeland is something we are very proud of. Freki puts his heart into every piece that he works on, having deep connection to his art “almost all of my works are single items, customized and personal. I like the individual touch of that approach but at times it feels like there has to be something more.” –Freki

What is the deeper significance of the art in our snowboard? From the artist:

“Tradition; It's about the spiritual and cultural tradition of ancient Europe and its artistic correspondence. But it's not like a romantic look into the rear-view mirror, it's the strong belief that we can only benefit from the revival of our past values, to gain strength, pride and a sense of identity that seems lost in our days.”

“That's what I liked about Norse Snowboarding right from the start - the approach of bringing Norse/Germanic tradition into a scene that is otherwise dominated by very modern styles. Thor's Hammer is the perfect theme for the first Norse Snowboard, a symbol for the vital power of the Germanic spirit.”

“The design of the Thor Board combines authentic Norse style with a modern design. That's why there are two hammers, one pointing backward into the past, one forward into the future. Like the hammer cracks the sky, this board strikes the top of a snowcapped mountain and the old gods return from oblivion - take a ride with them, take a ride with the Thor Board!”
